Frequently Asked Questions

A naturopathic doctor (ND) is a medically trained provider who blends modern diagnostics with evidence-based natural therapies. As a naturopathic doctor, I focus on identifying the root cause of your symptoms rather than simply managing them. Care may include advanced lab testing, nutrition, botanical medicine, lifestyle counseling, and when appropriate under California scope, prescription medications.
-
Yes! Licensed naturopathic doctors complete a four-year doctoral-level medical program at an accredited naturopathic medical school. Our training includes biomedical sciences, clinical diagnostics, pharmacology, and integrative therapies.
-
Naturopathic medicine can help with a wide range of concerns including hormone imbalance, digestive disorders, fatigue, brain fog, cardiometabolic health, thyroid dysfunction, autoimmune conditions, chronic inflammatory patterns, and more. Your care is individualized and based on the full picture of your health.
-
Naturopathic medicine focuses on root-cause investigation, whole-person care, and longer visits that allow for enough time to fully understand your complete health history. Rather than separating symptoms into isolated systems, we look at how your hormones, gut, metabolism, immune system, and nervous system all interact together.
-
Yes! Hormone imbalance can contribute to fatigue, PMS, PCOS, perimenopause symptoms, menopause transitions, thyroid dysfunction, and andropause. Comprehensive hormone testing and metabolic evaluation give us the ability to build a personalized plan that helps restore balance and stability.
-
Digestive concerns such as bloating, constipation, IBS, reflux, and SIBO are some very common reasons that people seek naturopathic care. Through advanced stool testing, breath testing, and additional evaluations, we work to identify underlying drivers and rebuild long-term gut health.
-
Chronic fatigue can stem from thyroid dysfunction, adrenal imbalance, blood sugar instability, nutrient deficiencies, inflammation, poor sleep, post-viral changes, mitochondrial dysfunction, chronic infections, or other causes. A naturopathic approach looks at all of these different contributors to uncover what factors may be affecting your energy.
-
Brain health is closely connected to gut function, hormones, inflammation, and blood sugar regulation. Naturopathic care can help with mood balance, cognitive clarity, and focus by identifying underlying imbalances and building a comprehensive plan for brain health.
-
Cardiometabolic health refers to the relationship between your heart, metabolism, blood sugar, cholesterol, and inflammatory markers. Advanced cardiovascular and metabolic testing can identify early changes and help create prevention strategies before disease develops.
-
Testing may include comprehensive blood panels, hormone testing, advanced cardiovascular markers, stool analysis, SIBO or H. Pylori breath testing, inflammatory markers, nutrient status evaluation, metabolic assessments, evaluation for infections, and many others. Testing is personalized based on your symptoms and goals.
-
No! Many people come in with a collection of symptoms rather than a clear diagnosis. Naturopathic medicine is designed to investigate patterns and uncover contributing factors, even when a formal diagnosis hasn’t yet been made.
-
Not at all! Many people seek naturopathic care for prevention and health optimization. Proactive testing and personalized planning can help strengthen long-term metabolic, cognitive, hormonal, and cardiovascular health.
-
Care is private-pay only; insurance is not accepted at this time. This structure allows for longer visits, comprehensive testing, and personalized treatment plans without the limitations often imposed by insurance models.
-
For individuals located in California, I provide full naturopathic medical care under the California naturopathic doctor scope. This includes diagnostic testing, comprehensive treatment planning, and prescription medications when clinically necessary.
Outside of California, I cannot provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment of disease, or prescription medications. However, I can offer wellness guidance including nutrition, supplements, botanical medicine, lifestyle strategies, and mind-body approaches.
-
Initial visits are 1.5-2 hours in length to allow enough time for a detailed review of your history, symptoms, and goals. Follow-up visits are approximately 30 minutes - 1 hour.
-
In California, licensed naturopathic doctors have independent prescriptive authority for select hormones and GLP-1 medications. In collaboration with a supervising MD, additional prescription therapies may also be used when appropriate. These can be integrated alongside nutrition, botanicals, and lifestyle therapies.
I also partner with Lyv Health to provide access to select medically supervised prescription medications outside of California for eligible individuals.
Every recommendation is based on your symptoms, lab findings, health history, and long-term goals.
